CAT I
Vertical T/O and Land
The research started very early but it is still really the domain of the helicopter. I have rad the Marine version of the F35 is very marginal in the VTOL segment of its performance even when lightly loaded.
I love my Cessna 210. Taking advantage of the turbo, flying eastbound at FL230 tog et a really decent ground speed. My best record is 271 knots over the ground. Anyone else take their piston up into the Flight Levels?
When I was a kid an going to the Pails Valley Oklahoma Fly-in one of these would always show up and is was a show stopper. Originally I thought it was a pieced together contraption but eventually I learned it was a Australian crop duster that had a lot of engineering and thought put into the design.
I also saw one used in one of the later Mad Max movies. This is a cool formation photo.
Look at how little this plane is; no wonder it had three wings! Anyone know what it is? Did it fly very well?
