Howard Hughes in the F11 photo/recon aircraft he was testing and crashed in. 6000hp it was weed construction and actually a derivative of an earlier design that was kept so secret only a few photos are known to exist. it was a disappointment in performance and lost in a hangar fire, but later used as a starting point in design in making the H11.

The Vought F4U Corsair, an iconic American fighter aircraft of World War II and the Korean War, is renowned for its unique inverted gull wing design and powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine. First flown in 1940, it excelled in speed, range, and firepower, serving primarily with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, as well as other Allied air forces. The Corsair played a crucial role in achieving air supremacy, conducting ground attacks, and carrying out reconnaissance missions. Its exceptional performance contributed to a highly favorable kill ratio against enemy aircraft, particularly in the Pacific Theater, making it a revered aircraft in military aviation history.
