Flying a WACO Taperwing

This is the only airplane I currently have capable of a Flight Level, Back in the 1930’s it went above FL300 to set a female pilot altitude record. It is supercharged but I think it was struggling a little at that altitude, the approximate height of Mt Everest. The engine is a 350ho W-760.

I don’t know if I’ll ever try to operate it at this height, but I might. Once.

Anyway I just bought a Staggerwi g G model that might be a better high altitude aircraft. I haven’t picked it up yet but once I do I’ll have a better idea where it likes to be operated.

It’s all about the fun.

They made a small triplane in Fort Worth in the Mrs Baird factory. I think the Vintage Flying Musuem still has one.
